"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."

Procrastination- what is it? Why does it exist in some of us?

In a nutshell procrastination is habitually failing to pursue the goals you have set for yourself within the time frames you have outlined.  When this happens our level of self-motivation goes down the drain.   Have you ever asked yourself what might be behind your procrastination?  Let’s face it – you made the decision to take action on something – why do you sometimes fall short of realizing the goal?  There are typically three reasons why people procrastinate:

  • Laziness- Perhaps you can't reach your goal because you simply do not like what it is you have to do.  If this is the case, go back to your initial goal and assess if the rewards are greater than the consequences of not completing the goal.
  • Apathy- Is the goal you set for yourself really in alignment with what you want?
  • Fear- What is it that you are afraid of?  Once you can identify the fears then they can subside because the unknown becomes a known commodity.
